Some cakes are sweet.
Some cakes are pretty.
And then there are cakes that tell a story, the kind you need to walk around to fully take in.
This fully custom cake was exactly that: a love letter in fondant and buttercream, celebrating a 60th birthday and an extraordinary career that spanned continents. From the skyscrapers of Hong Kong to the landmarks of London, every inch of this cake was packed with meaning (and very tiny windows).
We hand cut the entire Hong Kong and London skylines out of fondant, yes, by hand, with intricate piping that had us squinting over every skyscraper and the Buckingham palace. It’s our most detailed piping work to date, and we’re not just saying that to brag (okay, maybe a little).
Spot the Cheung Kong Centre, Exchange Square, and of course the iconic HSBC building standing tall alongside its London counterpart. Big Ben made a stately appearance. The London Eye twirled in buttercream glory. Even Paddington Bear popped by, trench coat and all.
This cake was more than a centrepiece, it was a timeline. A visual journey through the celebrant’s most defining milestones, career highlights, and global memories. A cake you could look at for five minutes and still find something new. And yes, we did cry (just a little) when we handed it over.
To the one who inspired it: thank you for letting us be part of such a remarkable celebration.
Here’s to decades of hard work, success, and now… cake.
